Drifters

They're after us. I know it. I can smell it. My name is Michael. That's all you need to for now. I'm from Roswell, New Mexico. My family died in the crash... Somewhere, somehow, someone out there knows the way home.

Since I graduated from high school three months ago, I'm been wandering from place to place. Trying to put together clues. Trying to find my home. I haven't been alone. I've been traveling with my girlfriend Isabel and my friend Ben. I have known Isabel for almost my life. We're both trying to find our way home. We met Ben in our senior year of high school. He's human but decided to help us on our quest. I'll try to bring you up to date.

* * *
The place was Roswell, New Mexico. It was April and of my senior year at West Roswell High. It all started when me, Max, and Isabel we're just cruising. Me and Isabel hadn't began dating yet.

"You know. You guys are starting to weird me out," Max said.

"Huh?" Isabel said.

I looked at him confused too.

"You guys have been quiet this whole ride. Then I look back and you guys are staring at each other," Max explained.

Isabel and I laughed nervously but it was like we were in a trance. Our attraction was too strong. I couldn't really explain it.

We drove around for another hour. Max later told me we were acting odd.

That night I felt.. anxious. Not a nervous anxious. A happy anxious. I questioned my feelings. My thoughts. Isabel was all I could think of. It was slightly weird. I had to talk to someone. I had to speak to Max. Isabel was his sister but maybe these new feelings were the beginning of something deeper. It was late. Around 2 a.m. so I couldn't call him. I decided to talk to him in his dreams. It's really tough going into another alien's dreams. We didn't think it was possible until I broke into Isabel's dream Junior year (She nearly killed me!).

When I got into Max's dream he was dreaming our school being invaded my aliens-little green men with laser guns. Liz was next him. He was protecting her.

"Max," I called.

"Michael?" he answered.

"Hmm, so this is what you think about us," I said.

"Man, it's not like that. These guys are evil. Their from Mars," he explained, "So why are you here? This is an invasion of my privacy."

I shrugged it off.

"I need to talk to you."

"I don't have anything better to do," he reasoned, "Liz. I'll be back."

He then kissed her. I raised an eyebrow.

"Hey, it's my dream!" he defended.

"I didn't say anything," I said with a smile. We moved to the deserted cafeteria.

"Max have you ever had... the feelings?" I asked.

"Huh, what feelings?" he asked.

"You know, the feelings. A consensual obsession. And when you think about her, you get this crazy rush. A good rush. A good-great feeling. You feel giddy." I explained.

He looked at me funny.

"Well, you said me and Isabel have been acting strange,"

"Yeah?" he said wondering what I was going to say next.

"I feel... attracted," I said, "to her."

Max jumped back.

"What are you doing? She's my sister. You know, off limits. Too weird," he said.

"But, it's something deeper. I don't know where it came from, but when we look into each others eyes-"

"Whoa," he cut in, "she's my sister,"

"But she's also an available female since Alex and her broke up. And it's good that she's the same species as me," I stated.

"What are you saying? You like her and you want to go after her? I'm not going to say that's okay," he angrily responded.

"It's 96.3 Lovebug. Roswell's top rated radio station," we suddenly heard.

Max's eyes widened.

"Wakeup Michael," he said to me.

I awoke confused. Should I go after Isabel? I was not sure.
